Microarray and functional gene analyses of sulfate-reducing prokaryotes in low-sulfate, acidic fens reveal cooccurrence of recognized genera and novel lineages

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to assess the capacity of the fen soils to reduce sulfate along vertical soil profiles in the upper peat layers as well as to determine the vertical community profiles for sulfate-reducing prokaryotes lineages that inhibit the fens by the use of a 16S rRNA based oligonucleotide microarray.

Detection and differentiation of Listeria spp. by a single reaction based on multiplex PCR

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to develop an improved polymerase chain reaction, multiplex PCR, for the analysis of Listeria species. The data indicate that multiplex PCR technique is useful for rapid analysis of Listeria species and strains from different sources.

Comparison of different approaches to quantify Staphylococcus aureus cells by real-time quantitative PCR and application of this technique for examination of cheese

Article Abstract:

A fluorigenic TaqMan probe is comparable to theABI Prism 7700 sequence detection system for quantifying Staphylococcus aureus in cheese samples. This was one of two real-time quantitative PCR techniques tested for this purpose.
