Nucleolar localization of early tRNA processing

Article Abstract:

Fluorescent in situ hybridization has been used in budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to show that some nuclear pre-tRNAs stay mostly in the nucleoli. The RNA subunit of RNase P was probed and it was found that the greater part of the signal was nucleolar. Less intense signals were in the nucleoplasm. There may be direct coordination between tRNA and ribosome biosynthesis.

Purification and characterization of the nuclear RNase P holoenzyme complex reveals extensive subunit overlap with RNase MRP

Article Abstract:

The structural similarities between nuclear Ribonuclease P and Rnase MRP points to some over and coordinated functions in pre-tRNA and pre-rRNA processing. The protein subunits Pop5p, Pop6p, Pop7p and Pop8p are shared between these two enzymes. The details of the analysis of the complex subunit of RNase P are discussed.
