Synergism with the coactivator OBF-1 (OCA-B, BOB-1) is mediated by a specific POU dimer configuration

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that during embryogenesis recruitment of the transcriptional coactivator OBF-1 is mediated by the POU dimer of the PORE, whereas the concensus MORE does not participate. Data point out that the specificity of the POU dimer assemblies recognize distinct transcriptional readouts.

Crystal structure of a POU/HMG/DNA ternary complex suggests differential assembly of Oct4 and Sox2 on two enchancers

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated the interaction of Oct4 and Oct1 with Sox2 on DNA enchancers. The study of this interaction has been carried out in the effort to test the hypothesis that the regulation mechanism of DNA-mediated swapping of homodimer arrangement can be used for the transcription factor assemblies.

New POU dimer configuration mediates antagonistic control of an osteopontin preimplantation enhancer by Oct-4 and Sox-2

Article Abstract:

Osteopontin preimplantation enhancer functions are mediated by POU dimer configurations through Oct-4 and Sox-2 transcription factors. Preimplantation embryos secrete the osteopontin protein, which is coexpressed along with Oct-4 and Sox-2. Sox-2 represses mediated activation of osteopontin introns by Oct-4, which regulates osteopontin protein expression during preimplantation development within the embryo.
