Optimization of single-base-pair mismatch discrimination in oligonucleiotide microarrays

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on oligonucleiotide DNA microarrays. The discrimination between target RNA or target DNA and single-nucleotide-mismatch variants has been investigated via the use of nonequilibrium dissociation kinetics to produce the optimum washing temperature in order to study this discrimination.

Specific detection of Dehalococcoides species by fluorescence in situ hybridization with 16S rRNA-targeted oligonucleotide probes

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Dehalococcoides ethenogenes which can complete tetrachloroethene dehalogenation to ethene. The authors describe the use of oligonucleotide probes targeting 16S rRNA of Dehalococcoides species, and the use of FISH for detection and quantification of these bacteria.

Linkage of high rates of sulfate reduction in Yellowstone hot springs to unique sequence types in the dissimilatory sulfate respiration pathway

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on sulfate-reducing hot spring prokaryotes. The activities, diversity and habitat range of these prokaryotes have been investigated via the use of molecular characterization, endogenous activity measurements and enrichment, and the details are discussed.
