Patterns of genic diversity and structure in a species undergoing rapid chromosomal radiation: an allozyme analysis of house mice from the Madeira archipelago

Article Abstract:

The article presents an allozyme analysis of house mouse populations from Madeira and the island in the archipelago Porto Santo to trace the effects of genetic drift by estimating genic diversity within populations. It provides a preliminary assessment of the evolutionary processes that involves in the chromosomal radiation of house mice in Madeira.

Microsatellite DNA suggests regional structure in the fusiform rust fungus Cronartium quercuum f. sp fusiforme

Article Abstract:

The results obtained from a microsatellite DNA analysis of genetic structure for populations of Cronartium quercuum f. sp fusiforme infecting loblolly pine over much of the host's natural range is reported. High levels of microsatellite variability exist in Cronartium quercuum fusiforme, where most of this variation occurs within local populations.

Genetic diversity of the shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa C.F.Gaertn), detected by RAPD and chloroplast microsatellite markers

Article Abstract:

RAPDs and chloroplast microsatellites were used to quantify the genetic variation of Vitellaria paradoxa (an economically important tree species) and to analyse the geographic distribution of diversity in relation to the refuge theory. Ten different alleles and seven chlorotypes were revealed by three-chloroplast microsatellite primers.
