Population structure of the pestiferous moth Helicoverpa armigera in the eastern Mediterranean using RAPD analysis

Article Abstract:

The moth Helicoverpa armigera, or cotton bollworm, a pest in the eastern Mediterranean, has been studied in that area through RAPD analysis. For distance RAPD-product profile types were defined and were in all Israeli and Turkish populations studied. No isolation by geographical distance was sen, but topography may be important in isolation. A high level of gene flow was indicated by findings.

Phylogeography and population structure of the common warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) inferred from variation in mitochondrial DNA sequences and microsatellite loci

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on genetic variation in the common warthog. The authors have investigated the effect of past environmental fluctuations on the patterns of this variation via the use of mitochondrial nucleotide sequence variation and allele length variation at microsatellite loci.

Allozyme polymorphism in the cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae): comparison of African and European populations

Article Abstract:

Comparison of European and African cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) populations for allozyme polymorphism at 15 loci for 22 populations is discussed. Few significant deviations from Hardy-Weinberg eqilibrium were seen other than at the Acp locus, and results are discussed as they relate to migratory abilities.
