Identification of two genetic groups in Bacteroides fragilis by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis: distribution of antibiotic resistance (cfiA, CepA) and enterotoxin (bft) encoding genes

Article Abstract:

Two genetic groups in Bacteroides fragilis have been identified by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MLEE). Distribution of antibiotic resistance (cfiA, CepA) and enterotoxin (bft)-encoding genes is discussed. No association was found between host origin or geographical origin, distinct clones and clinical manifestations.

Population genetics of Helicobacter pylori in the southern part of Switzerland analysed by sequencing of four housekeeping genes (atpD, glnA, scoB and recA), and by vacA, cagA, iceA and IS605 genotyping

Article Abstract:

Population genetics of Helicobacter pylori in the southern part of Switzerland has been analysed. Sequencing of four housekeeping genes (atpD, glnA, scoB and recA), and vacA, cagA, iceA and IS605 genotyping were used for the analysis. It appears that recombination at various loci has masked the evolutionary relationship in the strains. Three strains from South Africa and four from East Asia were used in the study because geographical distribution of H. pylori genotypes has been found.

Population genetics of Vibrio vulnificus: identification of two divisions and a distinct Eel-pathogenic clone

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Vibrio vulnificus population structure. The authors have evaluated this structure via multilocus enzyme electrophoresis, sequence typing of genes and random amplification of polymorphic DNA.
