RNA-binding protein conserved in both microtubule- and microfilament-based RNA localization

Article Abstract:

Vg1 RNA-binding protein (RBP) play a direct role in vegetal localization and this implies the existence of a general mechanism for mRNA targeting. Five RNa binding motifs were found in purified and cloned Vg1 RBPs. The experiments are explained in detail. Vg1 RBP is homologous to ZBP-1, a protein associated with mRNA targeting in fibroblasts. There are, however, important differences also.

The ch-TOG/XMAP215 protein is essential for spindle pole organization in human somatic cells

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on ch-TOG/XMAP215 proteins which bind to microtubules. The authors report that human somatic cells are more important for organizing spindle poles and less important for stabilizing spindle microtubules.

A novel and essential mechanism determining specificity and activity of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) in vivo

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on protein phosphatase 2A. The authors describe the study of the phylogenetically conserved mechanism generating phospho-serine/threonine-specific protein phosphatase 2A in vivo.
