Genetic analysis of the GcvA binding site in the gcvA control region

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the role that the conserved 5 bp DNA sequence 5'-CTAAT-3' plays in autoregulation and expression of glycine cleavage A (gcvA). The significance of three of the five basepairs in the autoregulation of gcvA expression was demonstrated. Results are in good agreement with a model that explains how the gcvA protein is involved in accomplishing activation and repression of the gcv operon based on GcvA being maintained at a relatively constant ratio with the GcvR protein.

Expression and characterization of the prtV gene encoding a collagenase from Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the expression and characterization of the prtV gene supporting a collagenase from Vibrio parahemolyticus in Escherichia coli. The gene was purified by affinity chromatography while the highest enzyme activity was determined in the culture supernatant after induction. Escherichia coli was grown at 35 degrees C in LB broth while proteins were separated using polyacrylamide gel.
