Rapid identification of Vibrio vulnificus on nonselective media with an alkaline phosphatase-labeled oligonucleotide probe

Article Abstract:

A method that allows the immediate division and enumeration of the organism without enrichment or selective media is evaluated. This involved the utilization of an alkaline phosphatase-labeled oligonucleotide probe derived from the DNA sequence within the hemolysin-cytolysin structural gene for detecting Vibrio vulnifucus in environmental samples. The rapid accuracy of the method was demonstrated.

Genetic distinctions among clinical and environmental strains of Vibrio vulnificus

Article Abstract:

PCR is used to screen DNA polymorphisms in strains from environmental or clinical sources, and genomic relationships were determined by repetitive extragenic palindromic DNA PCR (rep-PCR) typing. Significant (P<0.01) association was observed for typical 'clinical' or 'environmental' polymorphism profiles based on strain origin.

Real-time PCR analysis of vibrio vulnificus from oysters

Article Abstract:

A quantitative real- time PCR assay with TaqMan technology is developed. The data indicates that real- time PCR can provide sensitive species- specific detection and enumeration of V. vulnificus in seafood.
