Recent radiation in West African Taterillus (Rodentia, Gerbillinae): A concerted role of chromosome and climatic changes

Article Abstract:

A comparison of the seven specific karyotypes of genus Taterillus and a cladistic analysis performed using chromosomal rearrangements character states are discussed. It was hypothesized that the process underpinning cladogenesis involved highly under dominant genomic rearrangements that were fixed fully pronounced populational bottlenecks from a drastic climate and subsequent environmental changes.

Evidence for a major gene affecting the transition from normoglycaemia to hyperglycemia in Psammomys obesus

Article Abstract:

The mode of inheritance of nutritionally induced diabetes in the sand rat (Psammomys obesus), following transfer from low-energy to high-energy diet, which include hyperglycemia, is investigated. Psammomys selected for high or low blood glucose level were used as two parental lines.

The effect of an inversion system and the time interval between matings on postcopulatory sexual selection in the seaweed fly, Coelopa frigida

Article Abstract:

The effect of time interval and chromosomal inversion karyotype on postcopulatory sexual selection in the seaweed fly is investigated. Homokaryotypic females were mated with a male of the same and a male of the opposite homokarotype.
