Regulation of the spvR gene of the Salmonella typhimurium virulence plasmid during exponential-phase growth in intracellular salts medium and at stationary phase in L broth

Article Abstract:

RNAse-protection analysis was utilized to examine the expression of spvR genes under specific growth conditions. It was observed that basal expression and maximal induction of spvR differed with regard to their dependence on SpvR and RpoS. The expression of spvR during the stationary phase in L broth increased following the deletion of spvA from the virulence plasmid of S. typhimurium.

Trichoderma harzianum genes induced during growth on Rhizoctonia solani cell walls

Article Abstract:

Trichoderma harzianum is a fungus that is useful as a fungal pathogen. The use of a natural pathogen in agriculture can be more economically sound than using chemicals. Analysis of two cloned T. harzianum genes, the inda1 and indc11, shows that they encode mycoparasitism proteins to act as biocontrol agents and are able to produce amino acid permeases similar to those of other plants.

Catalase activity is necessary for heat-shock recovery in Aspergillus nidulans germlings

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to determine whether lethal effects from heat exposure is due to oxidative stress using Aspergillus nidulans as a model. The data indicate that heat treatment increased trehalose and mannitol concentrations and catalase biosynthesis which, in combination with mannitol, protects cells from oxidative damage.
