Molecular variation and biogeography of rock shags

Article Abstract:

Molecular variation and biogeography of rock shags are examined. Molecular examination of the current genetic organization of rock shags suggests great population subdivision which is presumably the result of vicariant disjunction related to the Llanquihue Glaciation. Directional movement pattern of genotypes within the present range of rock shags indicates the significantly asymmetric nature of gene flow across the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of southern South America.

The importance of productivity to the dynamics of a swainson's thrush population

Article Abstract:

Population indices for a western Swainson's Thrush population based on a 15-year standardized mist-net data model were used to evaluate the relationship between productivity for a single year and adult abundance in the next year. Adult abundance showed high variation for the given period, although variation was lower when recapture data was used. Variance in adult abundance was attributed primarily to annual productivity changes.
