Role of Brg1 and HDAC2 in GR trans-repression of the pituitary POMC gene and misexpression in Cushing disease

Article Abstract:

Study is presented to show that Brg1, the ATPase subunit of the Swi/Snf complex, is essential for trans-repression and that Brg1 is required in vivo to stabilize interactions between glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and NGFI-B as well as between GR and HDAC2. It is found that ~50% of pituitary adenomas from Cushing disease patients have misexpression of either Brg1 or HDAC2 in tumor tissue but not in adjacent normal pituitary tissue.

Targeted ablation of ILK from the murine heart results in dilated cardiomyopathy and spontaneous heart failure

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that targeted ablation of the integrim-linked kinase (ILK) expression results in spontaneous cardiomyopathy and heart failure by 6 wk of age is presented. The results suggest that ILK plays a vital role in protecting the mammalian heart against cardiomyopathy and failure.
