Spo76p is a conserved chromosome morphogenesis protein that links the mitotic and meiotic programs

Article Abstract:

Spo76p is a conserved chromosome morphogenesis protein that is connected with the fungal proteins Pds5p and BIMD and the human AS3 prostate proliferative shutoff-associated protein. It has the ability to localize to meiotic and mitotic chromosomes except during metaphase and anaphase. During critical transitions of mitotic prometaphase and meiotic midprophase, Spo76p is needed in sister chromatid cohesiveness, chromosome axis morphogenesis and chromatin condensation.

Stable inheritance of telomere chromatin structure and function in the absence of telomeric repeats

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on telomere function. The authors have investigated this function, and they report that telomere-associated functions, meiotic telomere clustering and chromatin structures have been inherited in the absence of telomere repeats.
