Structural perspective on mutations affecting the function of multisubunit RNA polymerases

Article Abstract:

High-resolution crystallographic structures of multisubunit RNA polymerases have increased the understanding of transcriptional mechanisms. Based on a thorough investigation the mutations affecting the function of multisubunit RNA polymerases, many of which having been generated and studied prior to the publication of the first high-resolution structure are compiled and the positions of the altered amino acids in the structure of both the prokaryotic and eukaryotic enzymes are highlighted.

Bacterial transcriptional regulators for degradation pathways of aromatic compounds

Article Abstract:

The different regulatory systems involved in biodegradation pathways of aromatic compounds linking them to another known protein families are detailed. The information on regulatory systems is used to construct whole-cell living bioreporters that are used to measure the quality of the aqueous, soil, and air environment.

Ribosome biogenesis and the translation process in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

Ribosome biogenesis Escherichia coli and its cross-talk with the ongoing protein synthesis are discussed. The production of ribosomal components and the regulation of their synthesis with respect to growth rate and the nutritional contents of the medium are described.
