TFIIIB subunit Bdp1p is required for periodic integration of the Ty1 retrotransposon and targeting of Isw2p to S. cerevisiae tDNAs

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to show that the N terminus of Bdp1p, a component of the RNA polymerase III transcription factor TFIIIB, was required for periodic integration of Ty1 into the integration window. Further evidence was provided that a domain of Bdp1p between residues 139 and 240 played a critical role in periodic Ty1 integration upstream of tDNAs in vivo.

Nuclear surveillance and degradation of hypomodified initiator tRNA (super Met) in S. cerevisiae

Article Abstract:

A genetic approach is used to identify the genes responsible for tRNA (sub i)(super Met) degradation in trm6 cells. Evidence is provided that a functional nuclear exosome is required for the degradation of tRNA (sub i)(super Met) lacking m1A58.

Dissociation of eIF1 from the 40S ribosomal subunit is a key step in start codon selection in vivo

Article Abstract:

The selection of initiation codon AUG requires release of Pi from a ternary complex. The release of Pi is dependent on the dissociation of elF 1 from this complex.
