The BAR domain proteins: Molding membranes in fission, fusion, and phagy

Article Abstract:

The Bin1/amphiphysin/Rvs167 (BAR) domain proteins are a ubiquitous protein family which has been used repeatedly in different contexts including synaptic vesicle recycling in neurons, fusion of myoblasts into myotubes in developing muscle, tumor suppression and possibly regulation of ion flux across membranes. The underlying molecular function of the BAR domain as a generator and a sensor of membrane curvature has been demonstrated.

Nuclear ADP-ribosylation reactions in Mammalian cells: Where are we today and where are we going?

Article Abstract:

New technologies and strategies, as well as new models that would help to clarify whether poly-ADP-ribosylation is a covalent and reversible posttranslational modification of proteins are discussed. The discussion lays special emphasis on the known and proposed physiological roles of distinct mono-ADP-ribosylation and poly-ADP-ribosylation reactions.

Manipulation of Rab GTPase function by intracellular bacterial pathogens

Article Abstract:

Review is presented to describe the understanding of how selected bacterial pathogens regulate host trafficking pathways by the selective inclusion or retention of RabGTPases on membranes of the vacuoles. Organelle identity is determined in eukaryotic cells by the composition of active Rab GTPases on the membranes of each organelle.
