The alpha(1,3)Fucosyltransferase Fuc-TVII controls leukocyte trafficking through an essential role in L-,E-, and P-selectin ligand biosynthesis

Article Abstract:

Mice deficient in the Fuc-TVII locus were studied to address the uncertainty about the relative roles of Fuc-TIV and Fuc-TVII in the biological and pharmacological control of selectin ligand expression. Certain observations show that Fuc-TVII plays a major role in the biosynthesis of the E-,P-, and L-selectin counterreceptors' oligosaccharide portions. In addition, alpha(1,3)linked fucose moieties were implicated as essential components of L-selectin ligands on high endothelial venules. Fuc-TVII's pivotal regulatory role in leukocyte trafficking is implied.

Developmentally regulated glycosylation of the CD8(alpha)(beta) coreceptor stalk modulates ligand binding

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the glycan structural changes associated with the cellular differentiation. The role of the glycan adducts to the O-glycosylated polypeptide stalk tethering the CD8(alpha)(beta) coreceptor to the thymocyte surface has been investigated and the results are reported.

Novel sulfated lymphocyte homing receptors and their control by a Core1 extension beta1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that Core1-beta3GlcNAcT and its cognate sulfated extended core1 O-glycans mediate the expression of MECA-79-positive, HEV-specific L-selectin ligands involved in the lymphocyte homing.
