Threonine aldolase overexpression plus threonine supplementation enhanced riboflavin production in Ashbya gossypii

Article Abstract:

Enhancement of riboflavin production in filamentous fungi Ashbya gossypii was attained by improving the biosynthesis of the riboflavin precursor glycine. The A. gossypii GLY1 gene, encoding a threonine aldolase, was cloned, disrupted and overexpressed. Findings showed that the increase in riboflavin production needs overexpression of threonine aldolase and threonine supplementation. Hence, threonine biosynthesis is the limiting factor under these conditions.

Purine biosynthesis, riboflavin production and trophic-phase span are controlled by a Myb-related transcription factor in the fungus Ashbya gossypii

Article Abstract:

A description on the identification and characterization of the transcription factor Bas1 in the filamentous fungus Ashbya gossypii is presented. It is proposed that in Ashbya gossypii, AgBAS1 is an important transcription factor that is involved in the regulation of different physiological processes such as purine biosynthesis, riboflavin production and trophic-phase span.

Metabolic engineering of the purine pathway for riboflavin production in Ashbya gossypii

Article Abstract:

The characterization and manipulation of the committed step in the purine pathway of the riboflavin overproducer Ashbya gossypii is presented. Phosphoribosylamine biosynthesis in Ashbya gossypii is negatively regulated at the transcriptional level by extracellular adenine.
