Transcription-dependent recombination and the role of fork collision in yeast rDNA

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on replication fork barrier site which stops collision between rDNA transcriptional machinery and DNA replication fork. The authors describe the detection of fork collision in the blockless mutant derivative with reduced rDNA copy number via the use of two-dimensional agarose gel electrophoresis.

Control of landmark events in meiosis by the CDK Cdc28 and the meiosis-specific kinase Ime2553

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on cyclin-dependent kinase Cdc28. The role of this kinase has been investigated via inhibition of its activity using conditional mutants which are sensitive to chemical inhibitors, and the results are reported.

The hairless gene mutated in congenital hair loss disorders encodes a novel nuclear receptor corepressor

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the mammalian hairless gene which is important for the hair growth maintenance. Results indicate that the gene functions as a transcriptional corepressor for the thyroid hormone receptors.
