Using a quantitative blueprint to reprogram the dynamics of the flagella gene network

Article Abstract:

The issue of a quantitative blueprint that requires in vivo measurements of the relative strength of the interactions and the functions that integrate multiple inputs is addressed using the flagella biosynthesis transcription network in Escherichia coli. It is concluded that the present approach can be used to define blueprints of other gene networks and to quantitatively reprogram their dynamics.

Real-time kinetics of gene activity in individual bacteria

Article Abstract:

A study of single-cell transcription in Escherichia coli by measuring mRNA levels in individual living cells as well as protein based approaches by counting the integer-valued number of transcript with single-molecule resolution. The bursting behavior observed in single-cell induction kinetics explains several different statistical properties of the population data.

Chromosome and replisome dynamics in E.coli: Loss of sister cohesion triggers global chromosome movement and mediates chromosome segregation

Article Abstract:

Chromosome and replisome dynamics were examined in synchronized E. Coli cells undergoing a eukaryotic-like cell cycle. Experts propose that with sister chromosomes remaining tightly colocalized, the sister loci are initially linked and that loss of cohesion triggers global chromosome reorganization.
