Visualization of the target-membrane-inserted fusion protein of semliki forest virus by combined electron microscopy and crystallography

Article Abstract:

Research shows that visualization of a viral fusion protein which is inserted in its target membrane mediated by the E1 glycoprotein as exemplified by the Semilinki Forest virus fusion protein . Electron microscopic visualization of the membrane-inserted E1 homotrimer, E1HT, indicates ectodomain reorientation in a vertically with the distal tipdomain II inserted into the lipid bilayer.

Molecular structure of human TFIIH

Article Abstract:

Research describes quartenary structure of human transcriptional multiprotein complex TFIIH involved in the transcription and DNA repair. Data show that TFIIH exhibits a ring-like assembly with a large protein domain protruding out. The p44 subunit of the complex is flanked by two helicases and forms the base of the protruding protein.

Structure of functionally activated small ribosomal subunit at 3.3 angstroms resolution

Article Abstract:

Research describes the crystal structure of the small ribosomal subunit from Thermus thermophilus. The subunit is composed of 19 proteins, a polypeptide of 26 amino acids, and RNA chain of 1457 nucleotides. Data reveal that the subunit exhibits foldings and packing motifs supporting ribosomal architecture.
