What we can learn from the elite controllers

Article Abstract:

Rare studies related to distinct patients called as elite controllers whose RNA levels show fewer than 50 copies of the HIV virus per ml without taking any antiretroviral medications are discussed. It could be possible that elite controllers inherit a unique set of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules that sit on the surface of the T cells and identify the virus to the immune system, which then could kill the virus and the cell.

Mapping the future of QTL's

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to highlight both the promise and hazards of the future that lies ahead when seeking diagnosis of all the genes contributing to complex phenotypes. The observation of a significant and antagonistic epistasis between the two linked loci identified in the study contributes to a growing body of work that suggests that nonadditive gene effects are both prevalent and of a significant magnitude.
