Worm chromosomes call for recognition

Article Abstract:

A report is provided on the first X chromosome recognition element from C. elegans, which opens the way to defining the relative contributions of the facts to the compensation of X-linked gene expression in worms. The number of sex chromosomes is one of the primary distinctions between the sexes of many species.

Battle of the Xs

Article Abstract:

The reason for X chromosome to be a highly disfavored location for genes with male-biased expression in Drosophila and C. elegans is investigated. A large portion of the genome is sex-differentially deployed in the germ line.

Male genes: X-pelled or X-cluded?

Article Abstract:

The gene expression level across the entire genomes of males and females was examined using microarray expression profiles. The striking associations of sex-biased gene expression were reported with the X chromosome.
