Are social-class differences in stature partly genetic? A hypothesis revisited

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that there is a strong link between an individual's height and upward social mobility, creating a genetic propensity for tallness among those in higher social classes. Studies included paternal and maternal education, occupational status, and urban and rural residence localities.

Young adult height of offspring born to rural-to-urban migrant parents and urban-born parents

Article Abstract:

The effect of rural vs urban origin of the parents on the height of 19-year-old male offspring residing in urban centers of Poland has been studied. When grouped by parents' educational level and by family size, men whose parents were of rural origin tended to be taller than men whose parents were of urban origin, within homogeneous groups.
