Requirement of autolytic activity for bacteriocin-induced lysis

Article Abstract:

Autolysins appear to be responsible for lysis induced by bacteriocin produced by Lactococcus lactis. Autolysins are peptidoglycan hydrolases that can lyse bacterial cells.

Novel surface display system for proteins on non-genetically modified gram-positive bacteria

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the highly efficient immobilization of heterologous proteins on bacterial surfaces made possible by a novel display system. It was observed that the non-living and non-genetically modified gram-positive bacterial cells are used as substrates to bind externally added heterologous proteins by means of a high affinity binding domain.

YtjE from Lactococcus lactis IL1403 is a C-S lyase with alpha, gama-elimination activity toward methionine

Article Abstract:

YtjE, a putative methionine-specific aminotransferase is characterized and its participation in methionine catabolism is elucidated and also, its role in volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) production was investigated. Cloning and expressing the YtjE gene isolated from Lactococcus lactis IL1403 in Escheriachia coli was performed and the YtjE recombinant protein was purified and characterized.
