An Analysis of Network Location Problems with Distance Constraints

Article Abstract:

Network location problems with distance constraints are reviewed. Several purposes are stated for this research: to recognize distance constraints as real life restrictions through motivating illustrations, to survey existing solution techniques, and to reveal unstudied problems. Decision criteria for locational decisions include min or max, minisum or maxisum, minimax or maximin, and multicriteria. Distance-constrained problems are presented. A review of literature on constrained problems is included. New, unsolved problems with linear programming results are discussed. Concluding remarks suggest conditions that increase the difficulty of solving a constrained problem.
