Blundstone, the Australian boot manufacturer, has relied on alternative marketing techniques to sell its brand name boots. Blundstones are sold in 22 countries, with exports comprising 20% of the annual turnover of $50 million. With only a $1.5 million marketing budget, Blundstone has used marketing devices such as promoting the dance show "Tap Dogs," by outfitting performers in Blundstone boots.

Market threat in new Russian mine estimate

New and established nickel mining companies in Australia will face even greater market competition as Russian stockpile and production amounts are larger than previously estimated. The Russian firm Norilsk is the biggest producer of nickel worldwide, and its officials confirmed that production levels would continue despite some difficulties the company is experiencing.

Russian taste in shoes has traders in a knot

Russian consumers need several pairs of shoes and boots because of the variable weather, but they also like frequent change in styles. Many traders carry in foreign footwear products which may not be reflected in official import statistics. Many Italian shoe companies maintain factories in Russia, but this industry has declined since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
