Bulls Abound for this Summer's Meat Markets

Article Abstract:

Livestock market prices should be markedly higher in the late spring or summer of 1984 compared to 1983 prices. The contributing factors to this rise in prices are rising grain prices, a colder than normal winter and a rise in consumer demand for red meat. Grain prices were higher in 1983 due to the summer drought across the country. Cold December temperatures almost always have an affect on pig litter size. Judging from the cold weather in December of 1983 pig litter size should be down six per cent from one year ago. There seems to be a high correlation between meat prices and the economy. Since 1983 showed an increase in discretionary income and consumer buying of durable goods, 1984 should see higher demand and prices for meat.

Contrarians Contrary about Contrary Opinion

Article Abstract:

A contrary opinion in the investment world can sometimes mean increased performance for an investment. By following the feel of other investors in the market place, a contrarian can then form an opposite position, hoping to profit by others losses if the market changes. There are indicators available to study market sentiment. Some of these indicators are: Market Sentiment Index (MSI), Bullish Consensus, and Consensus Index of Bullish Market Opinion. Several former contrarians feel that this system has little validity in the markets anymore. But there are still many market analysts that use contrary opinion as one of their tools.

Responsive Cords

Article Abstract:

Two speech pathologists in Chicago have begun offering two month voice training courses for traders. In the first year, more than seventy-five traders took the two hundred dollar course. There have been several cases where traders have been operated on for growth on their vocal chords and been incapacitated for a month. Breathing has been improved for some trainees. One therapist has a theatre affiliation, the other spent time in hospital work. The two main problems traders have are poor breathing and hard glottal attacks. Voice projection is focused on, as well as voice placement.
