Cable tv industry

Article Abstract:

The cable television industry managed to slightly improve its subscription lists in 1996 but observers are guarded in rating its economic future for 1997 and beyond and question its ability to control programming and provide competitive customer service. Neither Wall Street nor investors have been interested in cable tv securities since they reached their high peak in 1993, and the individual company's high debt and depreciation levels will probably make them insufficiently profitable for short-term investment.

Cable TV industry

Article Abstract:

Profit potential from new product introductions and expansion of subscriber bases are two of the most critical factors facing the cable TV industry in 1997. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 has allowed cable TV monthly rates to rise, in some cases 20%. However, priorities for capital allocation for new services and cash flow deficits must be dealt with. This industry is not timely in 1997 and investors must be cautious when evaluating these stocks.

Cable TV industry

Article Abstract:

Vertical integration and the clustering of operations in order to market cable television advertising and provide for geographic focusing and cost efficiencies are two cable television industry trends in 1998. In addition, several cable operators have put themselves up for sale and the industry is expected to consolidate through the 1990s. These shares are a good value for the years 2001-2003, though mainly for aggressive, risk-tolerant investors.
