Concept testing with and without product trial

Article Abstract:

A study of the concept testing done on a baking soda toothpaste showed a relatively low significance for both product positioning and trial in the multivariate analysis of covariance test in terms of perception/preference, purchase interests and overall preference. The result of the test revealed no interaction effects between product trial and product positioning. The study also suggested that product trials may be a helpful input to some phases of product development, but not much to familiar consumer products such as toothpaste.
