Coventry's newcomers want a shake-up

Article Abstract:

Chieftain Securities owns 4% of Coventry Group and is pushing for significant changes in the company. Coventry, an automobile parts company, has grown little, and Chieftain advocates further acquisitions and other moves to increase its value. Coventry Group owes no debts, which puts it in a good position to acquire other companies. Coventry bought Sweetman Fasteners in September 1998, its largest acquisition yet.

Sculptor springs a masterpiece

Article Abstract:

The American automobile parts manufacturer Tenneco Inc. paid $52 million for an automobile suspension system invented by Australian Chris Heyring. The suspension system, which does not substitute ride for handling, is a passive-reactive system, based on a hydraulic system using oil and nitrogen. Tennoco Inc. has taken over Heyring's Australian company Kinetic and has employed Heyring in its product development arm.
