Developing an Effective Environmental Assessment Function

Article Abstract:

Nine steps are outlined as a process for business environmental assessment. These nine steps include: examining the needs of the company, gaining knowledge about environmental assessment, defining goals, organizing to meet goals, developing plans, obtaining data, obtaining analysis methods, developing communication, and using the conclusions. These assessments help businesses effectively cope with their surroundings by recognizing what influences are important. Anticipation and awareness are two benefits from environmental assessments. Several organization methods are analyzed. Communication devices include newsletters, topic reports, and councils.

When expansion goes on a roll

Article Abstract:

Expanding a business by rolling out company-owned stores is more rewarding than franchising the company's name. NightRider, which expanded to 45 stores between 1987 and 1996, is a good example. Companies planning a roll-out should be successful enough to pay a general manager and maintain a 20% profit margin.
