Requirements for an effective project risk management process

Article Abstract:

The importance of the risk management process in project management is well known. However, characterizations of the process in project management typically concentrate on the development of an analytical model of the steps required but neglect to discuss the ways by which effective risk management may be ensured within a practical context. A study was therefore conducted to analyze the factors relating to project context and project participants. It also investigated how these factors affect the way in which project risk management processes ought to be implemented.

Stranger in a strange land

Tips on how to achieve project management success when working in other countries are presented. It is advised that project managers understand and respect the indigenous culture of their staff. They should start with learning the terms of greetings, dining etiquettes and cultural practices to make their staff at ease with them. It is also suggested that project managers create their own benchmark based on their project environment.
