Women, men and the redistribution of income

Article Abstract:

Policy changes affect the income distribution of individual household members. Policies, such as the minimum pension guarantee (MPG) and the national minimum wage, have bearing on the distribution of household income since some aspects of policy design may be beneficial to some household members but detrimental to other members. An analysis of policy by gender shows the existence of disparity brought about by gender identification as shown by the occupation of majority of women in the lower strata of individual distribution.

Article Abstract:

Cost-benefit is the best approach to use in the evaluation of Regional Selective Assistance (RSA), a UK regional policy instrument, than the existing exchequer-cost-per-job approach. The criteria assures the eligibility of an approved RSA project and identify the average exchequer cost per additional assisted-area job generated.

Profit-sharing regulation: an economic appraisal

Article Abstract:

Price-cap regulation in the UK is increasingly being criticized for conferring unwarranted profits on utilities and imposing unreasonable demands on regulators. Some regulators have proposed a shift to 'sliding-scale' regulation to remedy the problems associated with price-cap regulation. However, conditions in the UK do not support such a shift. Moreover, 'sliding-scale regulation' has not been proven to be superior to price-cap regulation.
