The value of the system engineering function in configuration control of a major technology project

Article Abstract:

Systems engineering has assumed a significant function in the execution of major projects particularly in the technological fields. A study was conducted to investigate the role played by systems engineering in the execution of large. technically sophisticated projects. Results indicate that the discipline plays a major part in three phases of a major project, namely, the early, definition phase; the change control function throughout project execution; and the project completion, verification and validation phase.

Project management in financial engineering

Project management concepts and techniques allows top management greater control over the financial product development process. They provide financial engineers the needed information and skills to facilitate the development of new financial products. They also render stability and control over new product development activities.

Texas Instruments Inc. introduced client/server technology onto its existing accounting systems to increase efficiency and the costs spent to improve its accounting and manufacturing systems. The technology is also used to increase the company's competitiveness and render authority and control over the project.
