Factors Affecting the Management of Interdisciplinary Research in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Article Abstract:

Research is an important part of the pharmaceutical industry, a fast-growing industry in Great Britain. A large percentage of the time and effort spent on research is on products that never reach market. It is crucial that research be well managed to reduce wasted time to a minimum. A diagram illustrates a typical research and development (R&D) process. There is a detailed account of the workings of various factors and elements in the organization. The role and training of project managers are described.

Interdisciplinary Research Redefined: Multi-Skill, Problem-Focused Research in the STRAP Framework

Article Abstract:

STRAP is a new concept for the study of interdisciplinary research methods. It utilizes substantive knowledge and techniques to solve complex research problems. STRAP is explained at length, using tables. It is believed to be the most promising method yet devised. Reasons are explained. It could become an effective method of working in non-academic settings. Management of complex research and development projects could be facilitated by its use.

Management of Technological Innovation: Facing the Challenge of the 1980s

This conference was held May 12-13, 1983. Current issues and research on the management of technological innovation were the subjects. Major shifts in research programs are being experienced and several were examined. The importance of the entrepreneurial scientist was discussed. Research programs and development were major issues discussed.
