How to sell forecasts to management

Article Abstract:

Forecasters at the Warner-Lambert Co's Parke-Davis Group had to prove themselves first before management finally recognized their importance to the company. The group's initial efforts to gain the managers' confidence were focused on dispelling their image of being mere manipulators of numbers. They polished their forecasting skills and after reaching their desired level of expertise, made management aware of what they can do for the company. The group conscientiously presented their forecasts during meetings. The group's forecasts proved to be so useful that management later decided to include forecasting in the firm's decision-making process.
