'I have defied gravity;' Joe Gutnick says his critics are wrong, and now the mining millionaire is out to prove a point

Article Abstract:

Mining magnate Joe Gutnick feels that the Australian financial institutions and the stockmarket have mistreated him and ridiculed his debt and controversial acquisition efforts, but he has found a supportive ally in Robert Champion de Crespigny of Normandy Mining Ltd. In their bid for Yandal Gold, both the $1.50 price and weight of ownership have prompted court attempts to halt the takeover. Gutnick sees de Crespigny as a domestic banker who is a gold explorer and who does not possess the misconceptions of traditional lenders.
