Interdepartmental integration: a definition with implications for product development performance

Article Abstract:

A survey of marketing, manufacturing and R&D department managers was conducted to identify the impact of collaboration and interaction in product development management. The results showed that interdepartmental collaboration had a more positive impact on product development than interaction. They also suggest that managers should first assess their firm's levels of interdepartmental collaboration and interaction to establish effective interdepartmental integration.
