Is your controllership function out of control?

Article Abstract:

Twelve questions are listed which are meant primarily for the use of chief executive officers, consultants, and chief financial officers, though they can be used for self-testing, in evaluating a company's controllership function. The questions are intended to alert one to situations which could cause financial or operational problems if not corrected. To evaluate the effectiveness of a controller, many areas of responsibility such as decision-making, microcomputer use, and management's needs should be considered. 10

Financial managers will be increasingly in the spotlight as the economy improves. Controllers must redefine their role as part of management. Operations are growing decentralized and lean. Controls should foster ethical conduct. Predictive models can be used as management tools. Motivating entrepreneurs should be examined. Special sessions were held on the impact of automation on controllership.

Computer Graphics for Financial Management

Article Abstract:

Displaying information by graphs has advantages. Computer graphics have dispensed with time consuming excuses. Different approaches may be used to implement them. Many criteria have to be considered. The experience of Johnson and Johnson is detailed. The use of graphics grows as does the amount of information used by a company.
