New music players let you cram CDs with MP3 favorites

Article Abstract:

The Pine D'music SM-200C has a more stylish design and can list on screen the title of the song being played, but it caused skips in the MP3-CDs, and sometimes played static for up to 15 seconds before playing a song. In contrast, the Philips Expanium played with neither skips nor static, and has a 10-hour battery life, yet is disappointing in other ways. Each device costs $199, and can play standard CDs as well as MP3 CDs. A CD-burner is a necessity if one gets an MP3-CD player, and the researcher liked the Hewlett-Packard 8230e, priced at $199, after a rebate.

New portable players for MP3 music lovers are a bit off the beat

Article Abstract:

The newest in portable music players is the digital audio player, battery-operated, as small as a deck of cards and capable of storing about an hour's worth of MP3 files downloaded from a personal computer. The author liked the Nomad best, which was also the cheapest at $249, but the Rio 500, $269, and the RaveMP, $299 were also considered. The players have little screens to indicate which song is being played and the author considers the sound to be nearly as good as a CD player.

Music on the Web: at last, it's not only for hard-core techies

Article Abstract:

Music on the Internet is the hot topic lately. People want to be able to download songs and transfer them to a CD player or just be able to listen to it on their PC's. This could be a real threat to the sound recording industry. The sale of CD's would be obsolete if you can get it all off of your PC.
