At 21, CNN experiences an identity crisis

CNN has asked several top ad agencies for their portfolios in an effort to update their image as they lose market share. Stabs at past ad campaigns haven't made the cable network happy with the image they need to sell of a multimedia brand. Rivals MSNBC, CNBC are accelerating spending in advertising. Wonya Lucas, VP of strategic marketing hopes to pick an agency that can power them through this transition period.

The drop in stock prices and ad spending may lead the largest ad agencies to consider making acquisitions. Experts see three possible candidates: Grey Global Group. Cordiant Communications Group and BCom3 Group. BCom3 Group would like to go public when the time is right, while Grey Global Group has no plans to sell itself soon, and Cordiant would consider an offer.
