Potentially big security flaws found in Netscape Software

Article Abstract:

Netscape Communications Corp.'s Navigator has a defect that might allow an outsider to read information on a personal computer user's hard disk. Dan Brumleve, an independent computer consultant in Sunnyvale, CA, discovered the flaw, which can be utilized by the Javascript programming language, which is widely used by World Wide Web page developers for a variety of common tasks. Brumleve said that the vulnerability does not affect Microsoft's Explorer browser and e-mail program.

Poof! For more and more mutual funds, a quick disappearing act

Article Abstract:

1998 has been a record year for merging of mutal funds. This is noticeable mainly because when two mutal funds are merged one of them disappears. The previous record for merging mutual funds, set in 1995 is 322, a number which will be passed up this year if mutal fund mergers continue at the current furious rate. Some analysts feel that all of this activity is a result of recent overfunding and that things are merely balancing out.
