April Greiman: Riding a new wave

The Apple Macintosh is another design tool to April Greiman. The artist-entrepreneur in Los Angeles uses two of them in her six person graphic-arts firm, April Greiman, Incorporated. She publishes 'Main', a tabloid-size journal covering the L.A. art scene. Design Quarterly gave Greiman an entire issue to display her work. Greiman aims to break new ground, either by accident or by design.

Nonparametric estimation of the cumulative intensity function for a nonhomogeneous Poisson process

Article Abstract:

A method for estimating the cumulative function of a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) from one or more realizations is presented. The technique applies to terminating simulations as well as to any series of events happening over time or space. One unique feature of this method is that there is no need for the modeler to provide any parameters or weighting functions.

Article Abstract:

Men and women have physical differences in terms of muscularity and building more muscle mass. These differences are caused by anatomical, physiological and genetic factors. However, these gender differences should not prevent women from pursuing weight training since men and women show no differences in terms of muscle fiber type and strength gain rates.
