Office Automation: Push Managers Into It

Article Abstract:

Clerical workers resist the introduction of automation because of their fear that the equipment will make their work obsolete or at least reduce it to dull and tedious chores. Management digs in its heels because managers are reluctant to show their lack of computer expertise and typing ability. Managers are strongly advised that they must be the ones to take the lead, according to Bob Grant of the Chisholm Institute in Melbourne, Australia.

Giving Managers Information

Article Abstract:

Intelligence Pty Ltd of Australia has adapted programs once used on large mainframes into packages that can be used by managers on less costly micros. Managers can do financial calculations on Micro Modeller or PlannerCalc and retrieve information on Delta or D.M.S. Management can use that information to formulate plans on Micronet or Microplanner, bypassing data processing departments.
