Premier Michel resigns

Michel, a centrist and a strong advocate for free-market economic reforms, announced his resignation on Oct 16, 1995. His resignation was prompted by disputes with the Haitian cabinet over privatization and protests against his policies staged by the poor.

Irish Premier Haughey resigns amid scandal

Article Abstract:

Irish Prime Minister Charles Haughey announced on Jan 30, 1992, that he would resign. Haughey was responding to allegations of being involved in a government wire-tapping scandal. Albert Reynolds became the new Fianna Fail party leader.

French premier resigns; Beregovoy succeeds Cresson

Article Abstract:

French Pres Francois Mitterrand has selected Pierre Beregovoy to replace Premier Edith Cresson, who resigned on Apr 2, 1992. Cresson's low approval rating and France's nearly 10% unemployment rate contributed to the resignation.
