Reconsidering Retirement

Article Abstract:

A major question facing our society today is when and why should people retire. The added questions of pension benefits, worker's ability, future shortages of workers in the workplace, and how to support the growing number of retired people all need to be answered. Mandatory premature retirement in many cases is wasteful. Alternatives to total retirement are becoming available such as variations of partial or flexible retirement, in-company part-time work, or temporary assignments. Some international retirement policies are being studied, hopefully to find some additional input for the United States retirement system.

Software copying could damage your purse

Article Abstract:

Software piracy has become so rampant that the cost to the software industry is estimated to have reached $4.46 billion in Western Europe alone. Legislations have been enacted to contain the damage and organizations have been established to educate both the user and vendor on the evils of software theft and its deleterious consequences. One such group is the FAST or the Federation Against Software Theft created in 1984. The group emphasizes that legal proceedings are embarrassing and costly to the guilty party, whether it be a corporate entity or an individual user.
