Rotary Filing Speeds Up Communication

Article Abstract:

Austas Communications, offering twenty-four hour 'live' answering service, has installed the Rotascan system for quick storage and retrieval of messages by operators. Rotascan is a rotating filing system by Sanyo Office Machines which complements the speed of Austas' new computerized answering system. An operator can use the computer and Rotascan without leaving the chair. A picture of Rotascan is included.

Equipment at Work: Microfilm Speeds Transport Service

Article Abstract:

McPnee Transport operates an overnight delivery service. Signed consignment notes, which offer proof of delivery, are microfilmed with the Kodak Oracle microfilm system. The coded documents are then filed by states and dates in cartridges. The documents may be retrieved on a terminal that can search 280 documents by code per second. Each month 50,000 notes are processed.

Government Department Speeds up Phone Calls

Article Abstract:

The Australia Department of Social Security installed NEAX, a computer PBX made by NEC, a Japanese company. NEC is also involved in constructing an overseas satellite system. The advantage of NEAX is that it can fit a large or small telephone system. The Social Security Department feels that the system saves them both time and money.
